Long Overdue

Hello V--,

I must apologize for my overlong absence.  As you know time and tide wait for no man, and certainly both have not waited upon me.  With my apologies, I pray you will favorably read on with forgiveness and forbearance of my tardiness in writing to you.

I am close now, quite close, to transposing the odd little rules for the entertainment I previously mentioned. As you can appreciate it is difficult to make sense of what is both relayed verbally and what is written in rough notes, then by fits an starts combining them into a set of instructions to be read and understood by someone with no previous knowledge of such entertainments.

I must extend my apologies to you for the brief nature of this letter. As the completion of my task is in sight, I hope to provide you with the a final manuscript of my labors in the next letter.

Wishing you the best this holiday season,

C---
